The Facilities Explosive Safety (FES) MCX, established per ECB 2017-21 (01 Nov 2017), provides expert facilities explosives safety technical support services to all HQUSACE elements, divisions, districts, laboratories, field operations, Army, and other DOD and non-DOD federal agencies. Technical expertise in this area includes:
- Determining Explosives Safety Separation Distances
- Determining explosives effects such as overpressure and fragment/debris characteristics
- Mitigation (protective construction) of explosives effects and
- Requirements for Lightning Protection Systems for explosives operations and storage
