The Mandatory Center of Expertise (MCX) for Curation and Management of Archaeological Collections (CMAC) in St. Louis District (CEMVS) maintains state-of-the-art technical expertise in curation of archaeological collections, collections management, special purpose designs and construction requirements of curation facilities, archival document processing and preservation, mass grave investigations, forensic support to USG agencies, and archival/historic cartographic investigations to assist military and intelligence agencies. The MCX provides HQUSACE and USACE Commands with program guidance, technology transfer, and inter-agency coordination for the curation of archaeological collections. The MCX manages all USACE curation needs assessments and design services for the curation of archaeological collections. The MCX manages the USACE Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act compliance, providing support for the repatriation process. The MCX staff and services are also available on a reimbursable basis to assist other Army MACOMs, DoD Services and Agencies, and other Federal, State and local Government agencies (ER1110-3-109, Appendix F).
