Norfolk District is based at historic Fort Norfolk, built in 1810 on the Elizabeth River located in the south west portion of Norfolk, Virginia.
The district is a civil works and military district in the North Atlantic Division of USACE and employees approximately 360 staff. The district primarily serves watersheds and military installations across Virginia. Military installations include Joint Base Eustis-Langley, Fort Lee, Defense Supply Center Richmond, Fort Pickett, Fort AP Hill, and Radford Ammunition Plant. Customers include the Army, Air Force, NASA, Arlington National Cemetery, Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) and other federal agencies.
Norfolk District is the Army’s Center of Standardization for Enlisted Personnel Dining Facilities, Army Family Housing, Criminal Investigative Facilities, General Instruction Buildings, Classroom XXI, Military Entrance Processing Stations and Information Systems Facilities. The district maintains standards for all facility type and supports USACE and DCS, G-9 with planning, programming, design, and lessons learned. The district participates in all MILCON for the facility types as well as SRM projects.
